R&D Engineering Manager – Edinburgh

This global high-technology Product Design and Manufacturing Specialist seeks an R&D Engineering Manager based in Edinburgh, Scotland to support global clients, managing the design and development and delivery of multi-discipline(hardware, software, mechanical) products for a variety of international clients for applications including Medical, Communications, Industrial, aerospace etc.

The company will offer full support and training for a Senior Designer/ Team Lead looking to develop their career into Project Management.

Our client is a fast-growing multi-national organisation within the Design and Electronic Manufacturing Services industry who work in a variety of industry sectors and offer their clients a full product life-cycle process. This is a new role due to continued expansion and an exciting time for the R&D Engineering Manager for Product Design to join the organisation which is growing in strength and presence year on year.

The role of R&D Engineering Manager will be to create project proposals, present to and review with customers; provide technical leadership and direction to cross functional project teams (hardware, software, mechanical); direct resource allocation for projects and manage project schedules and budgets; lead team and customer communications and ensure customer satisfaction and to develop long-term customer relationships.

Our client is interested in hearing from candidates who are educated to degree level within either Electronic, Software or Mechanical Engineering and who possess extensive knowledge of product design. The ideal R&D Engineering Manager will either be in a Manager role with a technically challenging product Design company already, or they could be in a Team Lead or Manager position within a design team who would like to move into a role with more customer focus and project management responsibilities. Candidates should also possess strong team building, leadership, problem solving, decision making, budgeting, scheduling and communication skills.

Your background should include a blend of the following skills and experience:

* Complete product development experience
* Demonstrable engineering track record in Electronics, Software or Mechanical
* Project or programme leadership, or responsibility
* Experience of, or a strong desire to lead projects and work with customers
* Ability or experience of team leadership
* Drive, determination, creativity
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
