Job Title- Quantity Surveyor
Location- South Wales, Newport

Contract- Freelance (Permanent option)
Salary- £300 – £360pd (Perm Salary Negotiable)

Our client is looking to take on an experienced quantity surveyor to join their commercial team on a new awarded framework contract. Our client is a large civil engineering main contractor providing their services throughout the UK. They are currently very active in civil engineering structural steel and infrastructure projects, working on new build and existing steel structures and infrastructure sites.

The first project from the port-folio of works which the Quantity Surveyor will be providing commercial support for is a £5m new build structural steel infrastructure project which requires the selected candidate to split the work between on site (2 days) and office duties (3 days).

Reporting to the Lead Quantity Surveyor on site, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for assisting the with all commercial and contractual matters on the site allocated to them and should be able to effectively manage an assistant surveyor to successfully deliver that project.

– Analysis of construction estimates, order book and authorised costs.
– Preparing tenders and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
– Commercial activities for all schemes / projects.
– Lead and manage the procurement process to maximise profit and ensure subcontract orders are placed on time and in accordance with the company policy.

Qualifications – A degree or similar technical qualification within civil engineering is preferred along with a good technical background in civils, as well as good commercial and contractual knowledge.
