The Client:
We are supporting an International manufacture of floor design solutions –the business develops bespoke, PVC based solutions for a wide variety of applications. They are now looking to recruit an experienced Purchasing Manager to play a key role in the business.
Main Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, this key role will play an important part in enhancing the quality and value of purchasing across key projects and categories.
Working with a global supply chain the understanding and ability to manage international stakeholders is key along with the skills to enhance supplier relationships and bring added value to the categories within your remit.
Ongoing supply of just in time raw materials at the right price
Key Aspects of Role:
* Understand and review existing pricing and contracts and through research and market lead analysis understand any trends or future forecasts.
* Review and critically assess the financial position of the suppliers and markets to which they trade to better manage volatility and growth.
* Accurately provide cost management and benefit data to prove any savings and/or cost impact achieved.
* Strong and confident negotiator and able to negotiate in a variety of communication lines such as email, face to face and telephone.
* Understand and assess the ‘walk away’ point for all negotiations and have a confident understanding of a ‘win-win’ tactic.
* Strong understanding of supplier relationship management and complete supplier assessments, audits, and service level documents.
* Source products and services, sometimes from a concept idea with the support from the wider business.
* Ability to identify, mitigate and manage any ethical, environmental or sustainability concerns you may have within the supply chain.
* Good level of environmental understanding and how this impacts our processes and products and the knowledge to identify potential solutions.
Person Profile:
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Procurement Department and at least 3 in a Buyers role, international procurement experience is advantageous.
* Experience of working in a technical procurement role in the manufacturing sector (e.g. Plastics or chemicals or regulated products)
* Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills with a very methodical approach.
* Aligns own goals with team’s goals, proactively supports/develops other team members.
* Self-starting skills
* Has the ability to successfully deliver quite complex information both verbally and in written form. Fully recognises and responds to target audience reactions.
* Has the ability to present confidently and successfully on any topic to any audience, can successfully respond and adapt to target audience reaction.
* Very adept at calculating, analysing and presenting complex numerical information.
* Confident and successful at achieving desired outcomes in complex negotiations, fully understands different approaches to strategy, can analyse and react to the aims of each party.
* Fully adept at using/developing all systems tools available and experience of using a fully integrated ERP system.
* Can effectively manage a complex range of resources to ensure a variety of outcomes are fully achieved.
