On behalf of the client: We’re currently recruiting for an Purchasing Coordinator to join us, based in our new Head Office at Newton-le-Willows. The role is well suited for a highly organized and self-motived individual. You must be able to work effectively under pressure to coordinate inbound deliveries from Port to warehouses and be able to react calmly to dynamic challenges.
You will be a confident communicator who enjoys working as part of a fast-paced purchasing team, happy to embrace change and react to daily supply chain challenges. This role will be rewarding for a motivated individual who is keen to develop themselves in an IT driven and multitasking purchase planning role.
You will be enthusiastic about using reporting software, MS Excel and IT as a whole to efficiently manage busy inbound delivery schedules. Proactively identifying areas of improvement in working practices and inter-departmental communication, putting forward ideas for improvement for the department to contribute effectively to the company goals.
Duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Logistics planning, currently booking in 40-50 containers per week from the Far East alongside Worldwide containers on a smaller scale, circa 10-15 per month
* Collating Excel documents from multiple sources and obtaining data on all container intake information
* Overseeing and booking in deliveries from UK and European based suppliers on a regular basis
* Container intake scheduling across 6 North West UK depots, working to tight guidelines within a 24/7 warehouse operation, using all available slots, allocating stock to the most required location
* Knowledge of a range of clearances for import and export, tracking & tracing shipments, arranging collections & deliveries
* Liaising with freight forwarders, shipping lines and hauliers to obtain competitive quotes, ensuring best value at all times
* Liaising with Internal Financial Analyst oversees contact to build relationships on the ground in China
* Increasing the portfolio of suppliers to improve cost and service where possible
* Tracking Inco Terms & organising documentation, checking bills of lading, packing lists, invoices, duty documents, origin declarations etc
* Relationship management of freight forwarders, shipping lines and merchant hauliers
* Developing positive communication with Operations teams to find optimal solutions when plans need to adapt at short notice
* Ensuring additional charges of quay rent, demurrage, document fines etc are mitigated where possible
* Supporting the purchasing team in the wider function of the department, sharing workload as required to ensure purchasing routines and disciplines run effectively
What we are looking for:
* Experience with imports, booking in containers and managing delivery schedules
* IT / Excel literate with administrative knowledge
* Positive attitude in responding to dynamic supply chain challenges
* A strong communicator comfortable with building a rapport with all suppliers and internal stakeholders
* Team player willing to get involved in all aspects of the purchasing function
* Attention to detail with – ‘right first time’ approach
* Willingness to go above and beyond to get time sensitive tasks completed, including responding to issues that can fall outside of typical working hours

Salary
Starting at £28k, rising to £30k after 6 months – £2K bonus paid after 12 months – Laptop & mobile phone included
8.30am – 5.30pm – Mon – Friday (30 min lunch) – New Office working environment – Newton Le Willows
22 days annual leave – plus bank holidays
