Salary: £39,600 – £54,000 per year
The project manager must be able to lead the design, although their own technical discipline is not critical.
Role Summary:
To be responsible for the management and lead of the design for upgrades of water and/or wastewater treatment works.
Outline of role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager responsible for the relevant client, and taking responsibility for budgeting, cost control and programming of the design, following established processes and procedures, the Project Manager will also act as the key point of contact with the client and contractor.
On many of our projects, the Project Manager will also act as the Design Lead.
The Project Manager’s technical discipline is not a critical factor, but the individual must have a sound understanding of water and/or sewage treatment processes and associated design parameters in order to manage the design works effectively whilst supported by an internal technical governance team.
Qualifications required:
Ideally the project manager is Chartered or at least working towards Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution.
The project manager must have a recognised academic qualifications, Degree, HND, HNC.
Experience required:
Experience of working with an engineering consultancy within the water industry, primarily on multi-disciplinary treatment works schemes.
Our client are not insisting on any particular number of years experience, but will focus more on the need for an individual with sound technical knowledge supported by a positive “can do” attitude and a desire to work collaboratively with client and other partners.
Familiarity with relevant software packages such as MS Project and the Microsoft Office suite.
Qualities required for the project manager:
Ability to work on own initiative and seek assistance when required.
Ability to organise and prioritise workload to ensure that timescales are met.
Good problem solving/contingency planning skills with ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions.
The willingness to take ownership for the delivery of projects and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and partners to deliver successful outcomes.
Excellent communication skills with an appreciation of the roles played and the importance of all technical disciplines involved in the delivery of water industry projects.
Flexibility in working methods to suit client processes and a willingness to work with our clients to understand their structure and procedures in order to align our own delivery methods to maximise efficiencies.
Above all we are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic engineer who is prepared to be challenged in a varied and flexible role.
Salary range: Grades for suitable candidates may range from Engineer to Principal Engineer and salary range from £39,600 – £54,000plus other benefits depending on grade.
