Project Manager
Job Description
We have a permanent vacancy for an experienced Project Manager to manage the construction, fit out and commissioning of building to house a new manufacturing facility.
Key Activities Include
- Manage key subcontractors covering civil, electrical, mechanical areas from design through to commissioning. Ensure delivery of facility to time cost and requirements
- Rigorously applying the Projects Department procedures.
- Determining overall requirements in terms of project strategy, scope, budget, time, resource and technical content.
- Establishing and maintaining accurate cost and forecasts for direct comparison to allocated budgets.
- Establishing and maintaining accurate project progress for direct comparison to programme requirements/milestones.
- Using established techniques for identifying potential project risks and planning corresponding risk mitigation measures.
- Working within and maintaining records for all work to satisfy company standards and procedures and national quality and legal requirements.
- Ensuring that the change control system is rigorously applied.
- Applying commercial awareness expertise to support customer scope discussion including potential claims to customer.
- Understanding the nature of contract variations and negotiating variation implications through to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Influencing customers to source and support business winning opportunities.
- Co-ordinating project management and delivery activities via effective management of the respective team members.
- Complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company standards.
Skills / Experience Required
- Fully aware of the project lifecycle
- Good understanding of project management aspects, principles and processes
- Good understanding/application of requirements, scope and change management
- Good understanding/application of risk management and mitigation planning
- Strong Commercial understanding/application
- Experience in NEC3/4 subcontractor management in construction areas
- Construction experience including civil, electrical, mechanical building works
- 5 years’ experience in managing complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects of up to £2m within Nuclear, petrochemical, transport, aerospace or similar industries
