Salary: £36,000 – £48,000 per year
Our client based in West Yorkshire is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of motion and control technologies and systems, providing precision-engineered solutions for a wide variety of mobile, industrial and aerospace markets globally. Currently we are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to Support new product designs and development from concept through to production validation, working closely with a multi-discipline team to ensure the design meets all customer requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Preparation of Project Engineering data for new product assemblies and components;
• Designs of innovative solutions to meet the customer’s requirements and needs, ensuring designs are competitive both technically and commercially.
• Responsibility for management of all design activities from concept through to production validation.
• Preparation of 3D and 2D CAD models and drawings, CFD & FEA analysis where required.
• Customer technical liaison on new projects, ensuring that the designs meet the customer’s requirements and often exceed their expectations and remain competitive to achieve sales growth and increase market share.
• Ensuring cost targets are achieved, and designs are commercially competitive.
• Product design and component tooling spend in the region of $1M.
• Chairing multi-disciplinary project meetings ensuring the successful completion of internal department activities.
• Support supplier selection and liaison to ensure that technical specifications and design criteria are met.
• Producing technical material and design strategy for tendering for new contracts.
• Preparation of product designs and specifications to support detail design preparation and BOM specification and preparation of cost estimates.
• Assist in the compiling Design and Development validation plans to ensure that the product or system meets the product specification and quality requirements.
• Responsible for planning and preparation of internal and external prototype samples, e.g. ordering of external supplier components and management of internal samples and prototype manufacture.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with key supplier research & development personnel, in order to obtain priority industry information and future business opportunities.
• Support in the preparation of timing plans.
KEY CRITERIA:
• Ideally Educated to Honours Degree standard in engineering discipline. (or HNC/D or equivalent with the appropriate experience)
• Relevant engineering design experience
• 3D CAD experience (ideally Inventor)
• PC literate / numerically competent
• Articulate and good communication and leadership skills.
• Energetic and enthusiastic.
