Salary: £78,000 – £84,000 per year

Our client is one of the world leaders in the power and energy Industry. The HV Power, Smart Infrastructure, Smart Energy, Networks & Grid Division offers a broad spectrum of solutions, primarily focusing upon sustainable, renewable, and smart technologies. Its service offering includes products, systems and holistic project delivery solutions for cabling, process control, sub-stations, instrumentation, metering, switchgear, and transformers, all for transmission and distribution networks, systems and grids or power station applications, and this covers every phase of the contract lifecycle from initial design and bid stages, through to practical build, installation, testing, commissioning, handover and ongoing maintenance.
Due to a number of recent significant long term contract framework awards, and an ongoing commitment to their continued and ambitious growth and portfolio diversification plans, our client is now seeking to appoint a Procurement Manager who will lead a team managing an annual spend of approximately £40m on an array of exciting projects and business units.
The Role
* You will manage the procurement activities for the smart energy and infrastructure division within the UK, with an annual spend £40m
* Extensive commercial and contractual experience in negotiating terms and conditions for multiple individual purchases between £5m-£20m across a varied range of commodities
* Management of commodities with spend exceeding £10m per annum
* Define and implement business unit procurement strategies to deliver targeted savings and synergies
* Day to day involvement in all the procurement activity within the business unit to ensure achievement of EBIT targets
* Provide leadership and line management to the procurement team
* Act as commodity leader in line with experience, with the objective of securing best value solutions
* Ensure employees comply with the corporate procurement policies and strategic procurement initiatives, and ensure full compliance with any business requirements
* Development and driving of procurement strategy aligned to the wider group
The Person
* Experienced in a similar role within any area of the engineering, infrastructure, energy or utilities sectors
* Extensive procurement management, service contracts and project procurement experience within a project orientated environment, and a sound knowledge of contract law, with practical experience of its application to procurement projects
* You will understand procurement data and analyse complex commercial information to make recommendations on a sound financial basis
* Experience of managing change, and a growth mindset is a must
* Ideally (but not essential) CIPS or MCIPS certified – accredited
