Role description:
As a principal consultant you will have significant experience of leading systems engineering activities in complex enterprises, ideally with a defence background, typically at Chief Engineer level. You will be expected to provide expert advice to clients and take responsibility for large elements of delivery of their programmes to meet or exceed customer expectations. You will be able and willing to apply yourself to a very wide range of domains and types of client.

Personal attributes:
You will have a good honours degree in engineering, science or maths-based subject, most likely a master’s degree as well and extensive post-graduate experience to enable you to provide expert advice.
You will have extensive experience as a system engineering practitioner and have well developed analytical skills combined with a pragmatic approach to solving highly complex problem using structured model based methodology.
You will have a practical understanding of the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Acquisition Operating Framework (AOF) and the MoD Architectural Framework (MoDAF).
You will be a self driven and highly competent engineer; able to lead large teams.
You will be able to utilise team leader or team player skills as appropriate for each project and have a high delivery focus.
You will be an excellent communicator of ideas and concepts, in writing, in presentations, in meetings and in one-to-one conversations.
You will be mature and credible with gravitas able to deal with people at all levels.
You will be a strategic thinker, able to see the wider picture without missing the detail
You will be IT competent and hold a current driving licence
You will require being SC cleared to carry out the role
