Principal Battery Systems Engineer

Principal Battery Systems Engineer to work on Batther Management Systems for the Automotive market.

As a Battery Systems Engineer you will be responsible for leading the electrical and mechanical design activities on high voltage battery systems.
You will be responsible for collating the detailed specifications from the customer, turning that into a workable solution and then working with the correct engineering departments to ensure that systems are designed, tested and manufactured to the required specifications and standards.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
Relevant experience in working with hybrid and electric vehicles and/or high voltage batteries.
Familiar with cable, bus-bars, fuse and contactor sizing methodology.
Familiar with electrical schematics.
Familiarity with different cell technologies and chemistries and the advantages and disadvantages of these for a given application.
An understanding of battery management systems and the methods for ensuring safe a reliable operation of batteries in a given application.
Ability to follow industry standard tools to ensure a robust design, e.g. DFMEA, ISO26262.
Knowledge and experience of battery and vehicle architectures.
Excellent planning and communication skills, particularly when working in a customer facing environment.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
Degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or Science related discipline.
Knowledge of Reg100 and UN38.3 and any other relevant requirements.
Knowledge of ISO26262
Knowledge of working within ISO9001
Understanding of CAN and the associated tool chains (e.g. Vector CANalyser)
