Principal Rf / Psu Design Engineer

Due to increased activities and growth of the market share, our global technology client have an exciting opportunity for a Senior/Principal Hardware design engineer to join an established business at their R&D and manufacturing site in the Portsmouth area. The successful engineer will require to have a strong background in developing SMPS and RF Electronic related products as well as being proficient in managing teams, projects and the provision of technical quotations from specification.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Evaluates and develops the technical specifications required to be met in liaison with customers and provides input to bid proposals.
• Designs new power supplies / RF Products and related products to meet customer requirements.
• Ensures that appropriate standards, both commercial and military are applied.
• Develops PCB design and mechanical configuration in conjunction with the Drawing Office.
• Develops and test prototypes to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
• Writes specifications for test and qualification purposes.
• Provides technical support to both customers and production during the product life-cycle.
• Provides training and assistance to subordinates.
• Evaluates technical considerations at a design review.

You will need to demonstrate
• A proven background conceptual design experience and an ability to design to low and medium volume production cost targets.
• Commercially aware, with good communication and interpersonal skills and able to interface with the customer at a high technical level & Experience of high levels of customer contact.
• In-depth knowledge of Switch Mode Power Supply or SMPS design

Essential Experience required:
• Degree/HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related subject
• Minimum five years experience of design/test/principle of SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supplies) or magnetic
• Designs equipment to minimum cost with due consideration to technical requirements.
• Able to liaise with both internal departments and external customers with specifications and technical requirements.
• Experienced in project costing and estimating

Desirable:
• Further two years experience in practical magnetics design
• Computer literate

Benefits include
• An attractive basic salary depending on experience around £66,000 – £78,000per annum. Relocation and travel to work allowance, career progression, and the standard annual leave, private health care and pension.
