Our client designs and manufactures safety critical electro-mechanical systems used in harsh environment by the aerospace and defence sectors.

As Principal Mechanical Engineer you will be autonomous and take the technical lead on mechanical development projects with wide ranging responsibilities, which could include;

• Generate concept designs and manufacturing definitions
• Delivering significant work packages to schedule
• Assist with development of engineering processes and procedures
• Define test programmes for design verification
• Execute proving activities for mechanical certification of products
• Act as main point of contact with internal and external customers
• Deliver projects to budget

You should have a good mix of the following skills and experience;

• Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline plus substantial relevant experience, or HND/HNC and substantial practical experience in working from engineering principles
• 3D CAD skills, Hand Calcs, Six Sigma
• Commercial and financial awareness; able to manage budgets, risk etc
• Capable of managing significant work packages
• An understanding of engineering and quality standards
• An understanding of structural/thermal analysis would be an advantage
