Principal Data Engineer

Salary: £53,400 – £62,400 per year

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer with experience of financial billing to step up into a Principal Data Engineer role and manage a small team of Data Engineers. Working for one of Wales’s biggest employers, this is a hybrid role where you will need to visit the Cardiff office at least once or twice a month.

Responsibilities:

• Line manage and coach a small team of data engineers
• Work with the customer side of the business and take responsibility for customer financial billing
• Collaborate with and update senior level stakeholders, the data science and BI teams
• Administer the existing SQL data warehouse
• Deal with urgent issues as they arise to provide a quality service for customers

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant degree in Computer Science, mathematics or other relevant subject
• Substantial experience of financial billing
• Excellent understanding of SQL knowledge based data warehousing.
• Strong understanding of typical ingestion patterns e.g. ETL
• Knowledge of data modelling approaches e.g. Kimball
• Experience of transition to Cloud (desirable, not essential)

Salary & Benefits:
