Job Description
Portfield is a Specialist school, where we support children with autism, along with other learning complexities. Our school is made up of 3 phases – Primary, Secondary and 6th Form. As a Teaching Assistant, you would support our students, either within our primary or secondary phase.
Due to the opening of a new class, we are recruiting for Teaching Assistants to join our Early Years phase, supporting students between the ages of 4-6 years old.

For this role, we are looking for someoneย who:
- Can provide clear communicationย โ
- Doesnโt mind getting dirty and messy
- Is happy to support with personal care โ nappies and toilet training
- Can take part in any exercise and activities required
- Can use their initiative where needed
- Is good at interacting with children

The role
Aiding the Teacher, you will assist preparing for lessons and helping to deliver the curriculum. You will help in a class of up to 9 students understand lesson activities to support their learning and develop important life skills to prepare them for adulthood. You will need to record and report all achievements, progress and development. Teaching Assistants are responsible for supporting the students in class life, so they can reach their full potential.
This role can be challenging and physically demanding at times, so communication, enthusiasm and resilience is key. Watching our students thrive and succeed is a testament to the positive impact our team have. This role is unbelievably rewarding and you will have the ongoing support from our experienced leadership team.

Hours of work:
Monday – 08:30am – 4pm
Tuesday – 08:30am – 4:30pm
Wednesday – 08:30am – 4pm
Thursday – 08:30am – 4pm
Friday – 08:30am – 3:30pm
