Piling Contracts Engineer

Salary: £26,000 per year

This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a technical background and demonstrable experience within the foundations, piling or general ground engineering sectors.

Our client is a specialist contractor focussing upon the design, supply and installation of various techniques of piling works, piled foundations, and general ground and foundations engineering disciplines.

Our client’s aim is to achieve best practice in all works that they undertake, completing these to the highest quality, and within challenging time and budget constraints. The company will undertake projects ranging in value from £20k to large scale multi-million pound contracts. Our client has the financial strength of an international parent, providing confidence and security for all clients across a wide range of sectors including construction, rail, civil engineering, land remediation, regeneration, development, water, marine, infrastructure, and flood and coastal defence or protection.

Overview

Due to continued growth and a number of significant contract awards our client now wishes to appoint a Contracts Engineer to operationally assist in the development and delivery of numerous contracts for the piling, foundations and ground engineering division. This will be successfully achieved through effective management of sites and contracts, and the servicing of associated clients. You will also focus upon maintaining net margins and a high level of client satisfaction, as such, a dynamic, self-motivated and adaptable individual is required.

The Role

* To assist in the development and management of all projects and contracts, with a hands-on approach to the general day-to-day activities

* To assist in the development and implementation of project plans for contracts, ensuring that all goals are either achieved or bettered with an emphasis upon service delivery

* Effectively manage all activities with regard to operations, construction, staff, quality, health and safety and project planning

* Where necessary to act as a focal point for the client, helping to steer and guide contracts forward, including input into tenders and designs, ensuring regular client liaison throughout

* Working with the commercial team to ensure effective cash flow management, and producing accurate reports on time

* Assist in site and project review meetings with staff in developing a proactive focus upon quality, overheads, manpower, programming, organisation and delivery aspects

* Assist in further developing the supply chain and sub-contractor partnering process, and where necessary to improve upon existing terms if possible

* To ensure a high level of teamwork and cohesion between all levels of site staff

* To attend regular meetings with staff to discuss progress as well as providing site reports and to liaise with other Managers within the Group with regard to operating policy

The Person

* Possessing a proven track record in a contracts, projects or site engineering role from within the foundations, piling or general ground engineering sectors

* To have assisted in the development and delivery of projects with a diplomatic and pragmatic approach, but also with a hands-on attitude to clients, sub-contractors and team management

* To possess first-hand exposure of various project scenarios, and therefore able to demonstrate a tenacious, lead from the front approach

* To have experience of a variety of projects including multi discipline piling, foundations or ground engineering techniques.

* Must possess an excellent understanding of all stages of the project contracting process, coupled with the ability to manage and develop yourself both technically and commercially

* Good levels of experience at pre, in-situ and post contract stages
