Salary: £26,000 per year

Apple Recruitment are seeking to recruit a temporary Peripatetic Housing Assistant for our housing client based initially in Lisburn, with a requirement to provide cover to the greater Belfast area.

Details: 37 hours per week, Office opening hours are:08.45 – 16.45 Monday – Thursday,08.45 – 16.30 Fridays

£26,000 per year/£26,000 per year and temporary initially for 6 months with possible extensions.

The role:

Working as part of the Homes and Communities team to respond to a wide range of enquiries from tenants, and other customers by providing advice and information at the first point of contact through assessing customer needs, in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner.

The post holder will be expected to add value to the quality of service by delivering consistent frontline services which promote excellent communication and query handling with a focus on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Underpinning the front-line role will be the completion of administrative and clerical processes which support the work of the Association and provide customers with the services and information they require. There is a requirement to be flexible in relation to tasks to be undertaken, have a conscientious approach to work and a keen attention to detail.

Key duties may include:

• Support and assist housing officers with the delivery of a comprehensive, customer focussed housing service.

• Facilitating the viewing of vacant properties.

• Responsible for holding scheme keys, and liaising with contractors on site to ensure completion of repairs in accordance with procedure and to report any performance issues to the Assets department.

• Carry out planned scheme and health and safety inspections as required on communal areas of schemes, checking the cleaning contracts, cleaning communal areas and void properties as necessary.

• Report breakages/damage/wear and tear promptly, carrying out cleaning of voids, making arrangements for renewals and replacement of equipment as necessary.

• Encourage residents to maintain good relations and to avoid disputes with neighbours and to report any issues of anti-social behaviour (to the Housing Manager / Housing Officer).

• Encourage and promote resident involvement and engagement with the Association.

• Provide support to the Communities team with activities and administration.

• Following policies and procedures clearly and having the forethought to highlight necessary amendments, ensuring documentation is up to date.

Candidates MUST have the following:

* Experience of working in a community or caring environment.

* Hold a current full, clean (preferably) driving license with use of a private vehicle for business use or, in the case of having a disability, be able to demonstrate how the mobility requirements of the position will be met.

* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel

Candidates should also be able to demonstrate:

* the ability to work on your own initiative with limited supervision

* an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and

* the ability to deal sympathetically with difficult situations and distressed or angry people

Experience of working in social housing and a knowledge of Health and Safety issues would be desirable.
