Part-Time Call Handler

We are recruiting to fill a number of part time positions with start dates in November.

The role involves handling incoming emergency calls from members of the public and health care professionals. Working in the call centre, you could potentially be dealing with life or death situations therefore the ability to stay calm under pressure is essential. You will be required to actively listen, make decisions and advise people appropriately as to what action they need to take, by following procedures and guidelines. You will be working within a supportive team environment in a pleasant and modern offices based at Newburn, Scotswood or Hebburn; most successful candidates can be accomodated at the nearest site to their home address.

Full and comprehensive training will be provided (training is full time, Monday to Friday over a 5 week period) and there may be the opportunity for these to lead to a permanent role.

You will have excellent customer service skills, and be confident and assertive, and be able to remain calm under pressure, and you will be required to treat patients with empathy, dignity and respect. You will also be required to use a number of computer based systems, so keyboard skills are essential.

We are looking for caring and committed people to work between 14 and 20 hours over the weekend shifts between 7am and 7pm at contact centres located in Newcastle and Hebburn. Flexibility is essential as you will also be required to work public and bank holidays as these can be exceptionally busy times (shift patterns are provided 4 weeks in advance).

Due to the nature of the work successful applicants will be required to complete a DBS check.
