Packaging Designer – Consumer Products

We are currently looking for a Packaging Designer – Consumer Products to join a leading innovative consumer product company based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. As the Packaging Designer you will be joining a company set up by Lord Alan Sugar and Tom Pellereau which was founded in 2011 called Aventom. Aventom has launched a range of revolutionary products in the Stylfile Nailcare range, now on sale in various major retailers on the high street and online. The company is looking to rapidly expand its product into new areas within beauty and beyond and searching for a highly talented, highly motivate packaging designers.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Packaging Designer will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as following:

1. Packaging working closely with Tom and other members of the team to create industry-leading packaging that raises the brand profile, engages with consumers and clearly communicates the product USP. You will work with the team to test different packaging ideas, concepts and designs. Use own initiative and reference brand guidelines to make packaging that communicates the brand’s message of everyday problems solved and prepare for retailer pitches. After approval/sign off, prepare final print-ready artwork, and send this off to the manufacturer, and complete the associated light administration.

2. Mock-ups Propose structural packaging concepts and create physical card mock-ups to present concepts. Design packaging to be as compact as possible and ensure packaging is the correct size and that everything fits inside.

3. Copy / Photography / Illustrations You will write descriptions and instructions to go on or in the pack, take photos of products and people as well as editing, resizing and touching photos to go on packaging, website and printed materials.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Packaging Designer we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. It is expected you will have proven experience in packaging and graphic design within a FMCG, Food or beauty company. You will have a comprehensive understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite as well as Adobe Illustrator user.

2. Those with previous agency or in-house experience and the ability to work on all forms of packaging are of interest with a portfolio to back it up. You will have previously created card boxes, clam shell blister packs and worked with barcodes. Will have experience of carton and pallet loading and the ability to explain this to manufacturers.

3. Podcasts, Vlogs and video – Experience in making or editing podcasts, vlogs and videos, Adobe Premier Pro (editing videos within Premier Pro) will be desirable but not essential.
