Our client is a well-established engineering / manufacturing company, steeped in history, with an impressive portfolio of clients across the globe, who, are now undergoing an exciting period of change.
As a result of this we have an exciting opportunity for a transformative Production Operations Leader with a background in mechanical engineering and fabrication, to drive production operations and to become an integral part of that change and a member of the senior management team.
Reporting to the Operations Director the Head of Operations will be responsible for.
Production Management
* Overseeing all manufacturing processes with the support of Supervisors & Team Leaders
* Developing the quality control processes throughout manufacturing
* Planning material and labour resource requirements with the support of the Production Controller
* Producing regular production schedules and forecasts with the support of the Production Controller
* Working closely with the Head of Sales, and Head of Contracts & Design to understand customer requirements
* Striving for the continuous improvement of processes and maintain ISO 9001 and 14001 quality & environmental practices
Engineering and R & D
* Prove engineering concepts for bespoke customer solutions, ensuring appropriate materials and manufacturing methods are selected and tested, working closely with the CAD team
* Overseeing the Research & Development activities of the business from a production perspective and working in conjunction with Sales, Design and Finance to bring any R & D projects to conclusion
* Refining manufacturing processes and implementing engineering changes where appropriate
* Ensuring all technical information, diagrams and build data are recorded appropriately and ensuring product manuals are updated as appropriate
* Supporting the Service Department with any engineering or technical challenges
* Provide accurate cost information for any bespoke designs
Personnel Management
* Implementing and upholding any Health, Safety, Environment and Quality standards, policies & procedures
* Managing staff hours including the use of overtime, authorising the payroll hours on a weekly basis
* Managing any HR issues arising within the manufacturing team
* Maximising the potential of the Department Structure in line with the growth plans of the business
