Operations Manager

Salary: £84,000 – £90,000 per year

Our client is operating a state-of-the-art fully automated processing plant established to extract protein from a range of highly nutritious plants. They are already extending their virtually brand-new facility due to global demand accelerating exponentially for great-tasting, convenient plant-based foods, together with a growing consumer awareness of the contribution of plant protein to improving long-term health.

Role summary 

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall plant and process operations and the management of key functions such as Engineering, R&D and Production. This role reports to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities 

• Responsible for overall plant & process operations, production management in line with the Company’s business requirements
• Management of Key staff functions – Engineering, R&D, Production
• Raw materials supply, sourcing and quality management of raw material suppliers with MD & QM team
• Operational cost control of production management in line with business management MD
• Management of process development module & trials with Process Engineer & MD
• Management of laboratory program development outputs together with Quality Manager
• Training of production team in line with process and quality procedures
• Management of third-party contractors where required (Utilities, IT, M&E, HR, Local Authorities etc.)
• Liaison with the Group companies for support of business where required assisted by Process Engineer.
• Stock Control, Warehouse Management
• Cost Control & Analysis

Requirements 

• Technical / Manufacturing background ideally with some food (ingredient) production experience (min. 3-5yrs)
• Supervisory experience with good people management skills – production staff
• Min. BSc Degree in relevant discipline (Life sciences, Chemistry or LEAN Manufacturing)
• Experience of SCADA Production Management software
• Good communication and reporting skills
• Good IT & Numeric skills, organization, work load prioritizing & efficiency skills
• Good leadership and interpersonal skills
• Good project management skills
• Experience of operating and MRP System e.g. oracle or Nav – MS Dynamics
• Experience of using Microsoft office.
• Practical experience of using fault solving tool such as 5 Why and root cause analysis
• Capacity analysis, planning plus Budget control
