Role: MEP Quality Surveyor
Job Role:
The role of the MEP QS is to assist in the delivery of all multi-disciplined engineering projects within the business.
Demonstrate good knowledge of Commercial and Contractual matters. To evaluate forms of contract and advise on their suitability. Where necessary, make recommendations to mitigate risks so much as possible to the business. Assist project managers with project programming matters and procurement of resources.
Take financial lead – analyse and control project costs, prepare and substantiate claims where necessary, make recommendations for payments, submit applications and ultimately, endeavour to deliver projects on time and in budget. Prepare and submit KPI, job costing and financial reports, as necessary. Attend meetings and carry out site visits as and when necessary. Effective interaction and communication with pre-sales team and Project Managers in understanding project requirements and successful delivery of projects.
Demonstrate clear knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines of the industry and H&S to ensure legal compliance.
Ensure excellence in all areas of delivery, financial reporting, profit generation and the development of other staff members.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and other department heads to ensure everything runs smoothly and in accordance with company policies. Aim to strengthen client relationships and ensure the successful continuance of business operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review Contracts given to us by Main Contractors and/or Customers
• Draft and prepare Supplier/Sub -Contractor Contracts and documents
• Review our Tenders/quotes on won projects
• Review Supplier and Sub-Contractor quotes on won projects
• Prepare tender documents for suppliers and Sub-Contractors on won projects
• Work with Project Managers and assisting them with production of construction programmes, procurement lead times and procurement of materials/sub-contractors in general
• Work with Project Managers and assisting them with variations on projects, including productions of quotes for variations
• Working with Project Managers in preparing claims when necessary, i.e. Extension of time, Prolongation, Accelerations etc.
• Working with Project Managers to assess any contractual matters that might arise and need resolution between associated parties
• Working with Project Managers and evaluating and submitting monthly applications on projects, including site evaluations when necessary
• Evaluate Suppliers and Sub-Contractors monthly applications and make recommendations for payment
• Prepare payments for Suppliers and Sub-contractors
• Keep track on project progress and report on plant, materials and labour spend
• Produce job costing and ‘cost to complete’ reports on Projects
• Produce Operations Department financial P&L reporting across all projects
• Analyse and Comments on key financial data (both actual and forecast) for the department and seek ways to maximise profitability/revenue at all times
• Identify potential financial or construction risks
• Production of a monthly management report to include; work in progress, monthly invoicing and monthly forecasting
• Attend Client and site meetings when necessary
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with Client, Main contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and fellow employees
• Ensures customer requirements are met in a timely manner
• Reviewing working practices to ascertain if it is successful and if not, devise an alternative
• Analyse, comments and reviews of working practices and communicating those in a professional and positive manner
• Possess a thorough understanding of the companies service offerings
• Serve as key participant in departmental and client meetings
• To report all monthly KPI’s set by Operations Manager
