THE COMPANY
St Mungo’s Broadway provides a bed and support to more than 2,500 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and works to prevent homelessness, helping about 25,000 people a year. We believe no one should be homeless and that people can – and do – recover from the issues that create homelessness. We support men and women through more than 200 projects including emergency, hostel and supportive housing.

St Mungo’s Broadway’s Assertive Engagement Service will form part of the Bristol Mental Health Treatment System. It will be delivered from three hubs across Bristol (Central, South and East) and will focus on engaging under-represented people with mental health needs through a range of engagement and clinical interventions, before supporting them to transition into the most effective mainstream mental health service to help them on their recovery journey. The service will also offer training in Mental Health to mainstream and specialist services across Bristol.

THE ROLE
As a Mental Health Engagement Co-ordinator you will be involved in the transition from the current service provision to this new service for April 2015. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage people with lived experience (peers) and community volunteers to support the provision of a low threshold engagement service for people who have a mental health need but have either not used mental health services before or who have disengaged from them.

Other responsibilities include co-ordinating and leading a network of volunteers across the service which will include recruitment, support, supervision and training for them, in line with organisational practices. You will also work closely with the Assertive Engagement Manager to develop a volunteering strategy which will identify volunteering opportunities across all elements of the service.

THE PERSON
You will have an understanding of mental health needs and a passion for working with volunteers, particularly engaging and developing people with lived experience of services. You will also have experience of designing, delivering and evaluating a variety of learning and development programmes and initiatives.
