Salary: £31,200 – £38,400 per year

Media and Communications Officer – Part Time – 20 to 30 hours per week

12 Month Contract

About the role

The role will include stakeholder engagement; developing/creating communication products; managing internal and external communications channels; developing media relations, campaign and event planning and promoting the work of the Hub through effective communication management.

This post will provide support to ICS colleagues and wider NHS stakeholders on communications and engagement related issues thus supporting the overall work

The post will involve contributing to other areas of work as required and where delivery responsibility may be outside of your remit. The role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders from across a range of organisations.

The role is part time 20 to 30 hours per week. These hours can be worked flexibly around other commitments. The contract is fixed term for 12 months.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Produce and commission materials for distribution internally and externally, ensuring effective production of high quality, accessible on and offline communications materials appropriate to the audience and to promote the aims of the project.

* Commission, write, edit, proofread and coordinate internal and external content. Develop press releases, articles, presentations, social media, workshops, podcasts, videos, e-mails, newsletters and marketing collateral etc, as required.

* Develop digital content for the project including maintaining and developing the website. Liaise with localities to ensure content is available, comprehensive and accurate for their areas.

* Manage a social media presence including publishing and monitoring content and engagement.

Stakeholders

• Management of the stakeholder matrix, which includes the partners and their relationship to the project and level of influence. Review how and when stakeholders will receive their messages. Provide content appropriate to the stakeholder on the progress of the project and any required actions, calls to action and key messages.

* Build excellent and effective working relationships with communication teams in order to better collaborate in communicating information to shared audiences

* The continual identification/review of stakeholders and their information requirements. Ensure there is a continuous process of engagement and communication with all priority stakeholders • Ensure meaningful clinical, patient and public involvement. Collate activities taking place and planned at a locality level, highlight gaps in engagement, organise any necessary engagement events, coordinate support to any planned events.

* Manage events ranging from engagement and consultation events through to community forums and staff events.

* Develop resources to support patient and public participation

* Assess and respond effectively to requests for information from members of the public, patients and carers, ensuring they are dealt with effectively and in an empathetic manner with information products that best suit their needs.

* Manage PR and media relations activity, drafting and pitching press releases, features, briefings and letters for publication; organizing photo opportunities, events and campaigns.

* Provide reputation management advice and media advice. Ensure clear, accurate and timely information is provided to the media and that media queries are handled appropriately
