Our client is a leading provider of municipal waste collection, treatment and recovery services in the UK. A vacancy currently exists for a Mechanical Fitter to carry out a range of routine maintenance and responsive repair services to horticultural, landscaping and gardening machinery and equipment

Key Tasks:

* Conduct routine machine operation, repair and testing

* Provide high quality servicing and maintenance to equipment and machinery

* Dismantle, clean and reassemble equipment and their component parts

* Stores management and stock control

* Machinery and tool adjustments

* Defect and issue reporting

* Install and maintain mechanical components including motors, pumps and gearboxes, maintaining and replacing lubricants

* Interpret plans and drawings to install, position or re-locate mechanical equipment and components

* Service, fault find and carry out breakdown repairs

* Ensure that correct equipment is always available in safe and reliable working order for use by Grounds and Maintenance Operatives.

* Ensure that unserviceable or faulty equipment is removed from use and is repaired or replaced.

* Ensure that equipment is always properly calibrated

* Provide technical advice and support where necessary

* Keep personal knowledge of standards, new equipment and manufacturers and statutory regulations current.

* Actively seek opportunities to reduce costs or improve efficiency. Put forward proposals and recommendations for consideration.

* Ensure that all health and safety procedures and policies are being adhered to throughout the Workshop.

* Manage and control sub-contract activities in line with Health & Safety requirements.

* Keep Line Manager informed of any existing or potential problems or customer issues.

Candidate Requirements:

* Qualified diesel mechanic

* NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant and Machinery Maintenance desirable

* CSCS card an advantage

* Ability to demonstrate a full and varied knowledge of plant machinery

* Ability to access and interpret technical data

* Team player

* Good communication skills

* Ability to work in a safe and conscientious manner

* Driving Licence
