Mechanical Fitter

Salary: £49,200 – £50,400 per year

As a DAYS based Mechanical Fitter you will provide maintenance support for all mechanical equipment on site. The company offers an excellent benefits programme that includes a 6% employer pension contribution, annual bonus up to 10%, death in service at x 3 basic and group income protection. Working hours are 7.30am – 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am – 3pm on a Friday.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter:-

• Work as part of the Maintenance team to ensure the site is operating in a safe and productive manner and maintain and improve undertaking all duties in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and working to all relevant standards.
• Demonstrate the ability to identify and report problems. Assist in actions for continuous improvement.
• Be reactive to plant break down situations in a safe, controlled manner, to help the business meet production targets.
• Be flexible in your approach to duties in accordance with the requirements of the business.
• To be responsible for the daily execution of the agreed work scope in a safe manner, to the agreed engineering quality standards and projects programme.

To be successful in this position as a Mechanical Fitter, a number of years’ experience will be required working within large site operations. Holding a Mechanical Fitter City & Guilds in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent qualification, including a timed served apprenticeship would be desirable. Experience and knowledge of working on a manufacturing site would also be beneficial.

With this Mechanical Fitter role there is an element of being on standby, although it is relatively relaxed. You will be required to be on call for a week one in every 4 weeks, however being called out to site is not very often. In the event you are called to site, you have a number of hours to get there and will be paid a minimum of 4 hours at double time. Lots of overtime is available if desired at both x1.5 and x2.
