We are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a growing organisation. The work will involve maintaining existing, and developing new battery designs as well as developing new battery designs. This role offers strong career progression, and a great opportunity to learn new skills.

Responsibilities
*Design and co-ordinate the manufacture of prototype batteries
*Design and coordinate the manufacture of fixtures required to produce existing and new battery designs
*Compile bills of materials for the production of new battery designs
*Maintain the catalogue numbering system and ESR database
*Design new battery parts using appropriate software packages (AutoDesk Inventor).
*Attend customer meetings as appropriate to progress design related issues
*Support the Production Engineer in terms of absence as appropriate
*Assist other members of the Engineering staff with design reviews in order that ‘design for manufacture’ principles are followed.
*Conduct trials on production equipment and provide feedback to Senior Engineer (mechanical) as required
*Work within the requirements of ISO9001 documented procedures
*Work with appropriate departments in order to increase levels of quality and reduce component / manufacturing costs.

Education and Training
*Strong mechanical engineering background required
*Experience of injection moulded part design
*High degree of computer literacy required – 3D and 2D Cad experience essential. Preferably Inventor and AutoCad
*Engineering ONC/HNC in mechanical engineering as a minimum.
