The role
As a mechanical design engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary.
Hinkley Point C (HPC), is the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations designed to support the UK’s ambition to reach net-zero by 2050. In addition to being one of Britain’s most powerful actions to fight climate change, it’s the biggest construction project in Europe.
Cavendish Nuclear are a member of the MEH Alliance working across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s 2,500 rooms.
Day to day, you’ll create and implement temporary mechanical building services design solutions for the Hinkley ‘C’ Common Building Services
You will also ensure integration, technical assurance, compliance, health, safety and sustainability of design and engineering to enable compliant defect free handover for operational service, delivered to programme and budget.
Additionally you will be accountable for coordination with the Principle Designer and Principle Contractor ensuring regular flow of information to comply with meeting the requirements of CDM

Essential experience
- You will be degree qualified or equivalent (HNC/HND) within the mechanical design engineering discipline
- You will have experience working on temporary services design environment such as HVAC, Fire alarm systems & water
- Experience with design and calculation packages including CAD, Autodesk Inventor
