Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £42,000 – £60,000 per year

An Intermediate / Senior Mechanical Engineer is being sought by one of the UK’s leading Building Services design constancy. With continued project wins and a healthy order book building up the Building Services Team are looking to increase head count and skillset with the hire of an ambitious career hungry mechanical design engineer.

Specialising in designing innovating and solution focused services for award winning building projects across the globe within the commercial, healthcare, data centre, life sciences, leisure and heritage sectors, this building services consultancy are looking for a person who is keen to develop their engineering and mechanical / building services design skills and evolve within the building services sector.

As an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 3 – 6 years’ post graduate experience you will be working as part of the MEP Team undertaking design and management of major projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working on a varied portfolio of projects both in the UK and Internationally.
• Designing mechanical engineering systems at the highest level using the latest software design packages
• Projects span a cross section of sectors including Education, Science and Research, Healthcare, Leisure, Residential, Commercial, Defence and high-end mixed-use developments.
• You will lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
• Take responsibility for solid technical delivery in your work either alone or part of a team.
• Engage with junior support staff in their day to day activities and offer advice and guidance to ensure that they develop their skills and we get the best out of our people.
• Looking at new ways of working and taking time out for innovation and research ensuring we keep abreast of our competitors.
• Creating and maintaining a high reputation within the local industry, and to ensure adherence to QM and risk control procedures is also a very important part of the role.

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND

• Ideally Degree or Equivalent Qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or from a time-served plumbing background.

• Computer literate with full knowledge of Revit and other Design / Calculation programmes
• Experience of working within a Design Consultancy environment.
• Ideally a member of CIBSE or SOPHE
