Prince Personnel are assisting their expanding client in the Walsall area, with their recruitment process for a Machine Shop Supervisor. Their ideal candidate would be someone who has started their career as an Engineer, who is familiar with CNC machining and a production environment, who has had some experience of leading a team and understands the HR procedures of Supervising a small team of Machine Shop staff. This business is really looking to grow and work on CI projects, so previous experience with lean principles and an analytical mindset would be highly desirable. Our client can provide a developing career with a growing company, working in a state-of-the-art machining shop, an early finish on a Friday and a good holiday allowance.

The Machine Shop Supervisor will be responsible for:

• Leading a small team of CNC operators / setters and a quality technician
• Controlling tools stock
• Raising requisitions to purchasing team to order machine tools, labels and consumables
• Working with supply chain manager on despatch notes and packing parts
• Liaising with planning team and allocating work to production team to meet the schedule
• Creating KPI boards and monitoring production performance
• Analysing shift performance
• Addressing any breakdowns and taking appropriate action such as contacting contractors for maintenance repairs
• Communicating any production issues which might affect meeting deadlines to senior management immediately 
• Carrying out training, RTWs, PDRs, and instigating disciplinary measures with team
• Analysing training matrixes and SOPs and suggesting improvements
• Assisting Operations with CI projects – implementing lean manufacturing methodologies
• Driving FLT (if you have a license)
• Working alongside Health and Safety manager and assisting with assessments
• Assisting quality team with audit preparation

Skills and Experience required:

• Must have experience working in a machine shop environment with CNC machines
• Man-management with a basic understanding of HR and team development
• Good working knowledge of lean principles and how to implement
• Ideally hold a Six-Sigma and relevant engineering qualification
• Must be a team player
• Self-starter who can initiate change
• This role would suit a candidate who has previously worked as a Machine Shop Manager / Production Supervisor / Production Manager / Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer / Process Engineer
