Brooks-Harper Recruitment Ltd are excited to be recruiting for a Full-Time, Permanent Machine Shop Manager for our well-established client in Suffolk.

Our client is a leader within the UK construction market offering bespoke joinery solutions for Commercial, Residential and Specialist projects, with an enviable reputation in their space.

In-line with their growth goals, they are now looking to appoint a Machine Shop Manager to really take ownership of the team and lead them to achieve departmental, and company goals.

The Job: What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for leading, motivating and developing a large team of machinists in the smooth and efficient running of the department.

Reporting to the Production Manager you will work closely with the production team in the safe and productive delivery of projects.

You & What you will bring to the table:

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated leader and communicator and possess a logical approach to work. Previous experience in a Joinery Machine Shop environment is desirable along with experience in supervising processes and people.

Responsibilities include:

· The day-to-day management of the Machine Shop Department ensuring all processes are carried out in an efficient, safe and in a cost-effective manner.

· Prioritise and schedule the workload to ensure timely delivery of all parts to the joinery shop.

· Management of timber and board materials stocks and associated quality control measures

· Provide regular feedback to employees, carry out performance reviews and ensure all training and skills are monitored and updated.

· Identify key areas for improvement within the machine shop to improve the efficiency and quality of items produced.

· Management of half year and year end material stock taking.

· Contribute to production and management meetings in the development of the machine shop and its production capabilities.

· Attend daily production meetings.

· Work alongside other departments to achieve the company goals.

· Drive continuous improvement and operating methodology improvements within the department.

· Ensuring all equipment is regularly serviced and maintained in good working order.

· Ensuring compliance with all Company Quality, Environment and Health & Safety Procedures

Required Skills:

* Knowledge of a Machine Shop environment including CNC

* Ability to effectively lead a team

* Good computer skills including MS Office

* Good verbal and written communication skills
