Blue Recruitment Personnel are now recruiting for Class 1 Drivers for a large distribution centre based in Skelmersdale.
The role involves mainly driving class 1 vehicles to complete the customer deliveries to different sites, private addresses and new developments.
As an LGV Class 1 Driver you will be responsible for delivering goods safely to customers distribution centres, stores and reloading or returning to base according to the plan whilst adhering to all legal and safety requirements.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
* You will have your own delivery route but you will also be providing driver cover or undertaking additional delivery rounds in a Class 1 vehicle occasionally when required.
* As a customer delivery driver, you will be required to safely deliver to customers whilst representing the company with a professional approach.
* Previous HGV driving experience preferred but not essential

Ensuring the safety of the load and that you have the correct load and paperwork
*
Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
*
Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance
*
Effectively manage own working time in line with Working Time Directive
*
Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
*
Responsible for taking breaks according to legislation to avoid infringements – legal requirement
*
Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
*
Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks (where required)
*
Ensure correct completion of a defect report as and when required
*
Make deliveries to customers’ premises, acting in a professional manner at all times, and observing site rules
*
Immediately report any problems regarding delivery arrival times, delays or discrepancies with loads
* Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
Knowledge and Experience required:
* Should have proven experience in driving articulated vehicles and have good geographic knowledge of UK roads
* Hold an LGV C+E licence with an up to date CPC qualification
* Possess a working knowledge of EU Drivers Hours Regulations and the Road Transport Directive regulations governing working time
* Ability to work without direct supervision
* Adaptable and methodical approach to work/ training
Essential requirements:
* HGV / LGV Class 1 – Required
* Driver CPC – Required
* Digital Tachograph Card – Required
* Reliability is essential for this position.
Working Hours:
* Sunday – Saturday
* Days or Nights
* 5 Out Of 7 Days
* Due to high volumes we can accommodate drivers for AM, PM and Night Shifts.
