United Colleges Group, formed in 2017, has continued to provide strong education and skills support to the 16,000 learners who we serve every year. We have around 1,000 dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff who always put the needs of our students first and we are now looking for a Ledger Clerk to join our cohort of dedicated staff.

The Ledger Clerk will work as part of a team that is responsible for supporting the Ledger Manager in maintaining the sales and purchase ledger functions of the College Group.

The Ledger Clerk is responsible for all duties relating to accounts receivable and ensure that invoices are raised promptly. The successful applicant will record all monies received and administer all sales ledger accounts within the Finance system, opening, closing and reconciling accounts as necessary and ensuring all customer details are up to date.

The Ledger Clerk is also responsible for all duties relating to accounts payable, making sure supplier balances are accurate and up-to-date and ensuring all purchase orders raised by the college and its subsidiary are correctly coded. The successful applicant is also responsible for managing and maintaining the College internal purchase order system where necessary and registering all invoices received into the system and forwarding to the appropriate budget holder for authorisation.

The Ledger Clerk will;

  • Have extensive experience in Accounts Receivable and/or Accounts Payable
  • Have the ability to prioritise workloads and manage conflicting demands to ensure deadlines are met
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent IT skills and numerical skills for analysing and handling financial transactions
  • Have a willingness to learn technical and analytical skills and develop and understanding of accounting procedures
  • Have the ability to work flexibly, supportively and co-operatively as part of a team and to develop and maintain effective working relations with staff at all levels
