Job Title: Landscaping General Operative

Location: Worksop

Salary: £26,000 per year (increases after probation)

Hours: Monday – Friday – 08:00 – 17:00 (some flexibity required)

Main purpose of the role

• Undertake a wide range of soft landscaping and grounds maintenance duties including grass cutting, maintenance of shrub borders, planting works etc

Main duties

• To arrive at work punctually and always wear the workwear provided.
• To undertake a range of landscaping tasks on a daily basis as per the instructions of the team leader/supervisor. These tasks to be completed to a good standard and in a timely manner.
• To adhere to all health and safety practice and policy, reporting any health and safety issues if necessary. Always wear the correct PPE.
• To follow all risk assessment and method statement instructions for each task/job.
• To participate in training and instruction in the use of landscaping tools, equipment and machinery.
• Practice safe use of tools, equipment and machinery at all times. This includes only using tools, equipment and machinery for which you have been trained/assessed as competent to use.
• To maintain good working relationships with all colleagues.
• To report any incidents/accidents/ near misses to the team leader/supervisor in a timely manner.
• To act in a professional manner at all times and always be courteous to customers
• To actively participate in the Tidy Unit initiative.
• To undertake the daily vehicle check if acting as a driver for the day.
• To adhere to all policies and procedures.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Essential

• Ability to undertake tasks that require sustained physical activity
• Ability to use a range of landscaping tools and equipment
• Understanding of responsibilities under health and safety at work
• Ability to communicate in an effective manner
• Ability to work in a positive manner with colleagues and contractors
• Ability to acquire and apply new skills and knowledge through work experience and formal training

Experience

• A minimum of one year of working in a similar role within the land-based industries sector either in a voluntary or paid capacity.

Qualifications

Essential

• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

• National Certificate in a relevant land-based subject or equivalent qualification or demonstrable equivalent technical knowledge and work experience.
• Pesticides (PA1 & PA6) Certificates
• B+E Trailer towing licence or pre-97 exemption.
