We have partnered with this prestigious independent Chartered Certified Accountancy practice with offices strategically located in Orpington, Ringwood and Tonbridge allowing them to service clients in Southern England. The firm was established over 45 years ago and currently has 4 Partners and employs over 50 staff. Their clients include a diverse range of corporate and individual businesses, Not-for-profit organisations (including Academies, Schools and Charities) as well as Trusts.
An opportunity to work within the Payroll team has arisen. The team is made up of 16 staff (Manager, 7 Payroll Administrators, 6 Junior Payroll Administrators and 2 Junior Administrators). The department provides bureau payroll services to approximately 250 clients, consisting of both schools and companies. On a monthly basis, the department produces around 12,500 payslips.
The Role
A Junior Payroll Administrator performs administrative tasks, supporting the Payroll Manager and team.
Experience of the role is not necessary as full training will be provided but an ability to work under pressure is required and to work as part of a team.
The Payroll team has been working remotely from home since March 2020. This is a full time position of 37.5hrs per week, from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Main duties
- Process payrolls
- Data entry onto payroll system
- Process amendments sent from clients
- Self-review own work
- Print reports to send to clients
- Draft invoices for clients
- Dealing with client and pension queries
- Completing monthly/annual pension returns
- Printing forms P45/P46/P6/P9
- Entering statutory payments onto payroll system
- Manually calculate pro-rata payments such as holiday pay, hourly/daily rates of pay etc.
- Ability to work within a team
- Performing regular data checks to see if system matches the manual record cards.
- Ad hoc tasks as required
Person Specification
Essential
- Must be numerate and computer literate – Intermediate level Excel skills
- Excellent English skills
- Aptitude, skills and abilities – willing to work in a team, learn new skills, processes and adhere to strict deadlines
Desirable
- Qualifications – CIPP
- Familiar working in an administrative role
- Excellent organisation skills
