Junior Electrical Design Engineer

Salary: £28,800 – £33,600 per year

Reporting to: Head of Electrical Engineering

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a talented Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join our special purpose electrical team. The successful candidate will play a key role in projects covering the electrical design and development of automated solutions.

To provide support solutions to the Electrical department to ensure that Sewtec remains a market leader in providing automated solutions to our new and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical design to meet business and customers specified requirements
• Provide an excellent awareness to ensure design solutions are delivered in a cost effective manner & scope changes are managed in accordance in line with standard operation procedures
• Ensure schedules are understood and workload is managed to meet objectives
• Effectively communicate project status to the Head of Electrical Engineering

• Produce electrical design from concept to issuing drawings to production in line with customer needs and business objectives, utilise barcode scanning system
• Support specific projects ensuring timescales and budget requirements are achieved
• Works to the company’s technical standards and of external standards
• Ensure data is inputted into the company’s database
• Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as required
• Support the department with the purchasing of electrical equipment
• Identify and source components based on quality and price
• Ensure parts meet in house quality standards
• Confident to negotiate framework agreements with suppliers

Key Skills

• Possess a good understanding of electrical engineering principles
• Experience in delivering solutions to technical problems
• Experience of undertaking technical calculations
• Experience of working within a multi –skilled environment (i.e. knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic and electrical components)
• Experience of technical projects including working to tight timescales throughout the project life cycle
• AutoCAD design experience desirable
• Ability to provide quality information within deadlines
• Team-player and ability to work on own initiative
• Strong PC skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC qualified in relevant electrical discipline or demonstrate through significant experience
• A desire to learn and a keen mind.
