A vacancy has arisen for a Junior Design Engineer in Malmesbury. Our client British manufacturers with a global outlook. With 70 years’ engineering experience, specialise in innovative design, production and installation of high-quality machines and integrated systems for the processing of agricultural produce and waste materials.
Primary role:
Some knowledge of 3D design is essential
Reports to: Design Office Manager.
Relationships: Drawing office colleagues, engineering team, production management and personnel, service and commissioning engineers, sales and contracts engineers, other members of staff, also; suppliers and end users.
Key tasks:
Design:
· Designing components and products based on:
· In-house engineering briefs.
· Reference to appropriate standards.
· Manufacturing capabilities; optimising use of the punch press and laser; CNC turning/milling centre.
· Permissible time scales.
· Preparation of 3-D with flat-form drawings suitable for manufacture.
· Filing in ‘Vault’ drawing management system
Bills of Materials:
· Preparation of BOM to accompany each drawing generated.
· Generating cost report on punching/laser/press work, using Radan E2i system to accompany each drawing generated.
Production Engineering:
· Working with production engineers and production management to introduce improved methods, tooling, jigs etc. via design.
Project Engineering:
· Taking responsibility for some specific design/production projects.
· Participation in technical reviews.
· Specifying and sourcing bought-in components.
Location: From main offices near Malmesbury, but with occasional site visits.
Salary: up to £30,000 per annum DOE
Summary: This position offers the opportunity to be a part of a team of 8 design engineers working on a wide range of components, sub-assemblies and complete machines. Design engineers are encouraged to pay regular visits to the factory in order to interact with production operatives as designed items are being working on.
