Junior Cost Engineer / Estimator

Role

The cost engineering team work very closely with design engineers as well as the purchasing team to influence relevant programs and commodity directions. As a Cost Engineer you will focus on a specific vehicle commodity – from Exterior to Interior, through to Power Train, Chassis, and Electrical.

Key Responsibilities:

– Provide ‘should cost’ estimates for a specific sub-set of parts
– Support the purchasing team in their negotiations
– Working with design engineers as a business advisor
– Identifying and implementing opportunities to reduce costs

Qualifications and Experience

– Experience within a manufacturing environment (ideally automotive)
– Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background
– Understanding of manufacturing processes – parts, processes and labour involved
– Degree/HNC/HND qualified
– Most importantly driven, motivated and willing to learn
