OOPS is a small multi-disciplinary team comprising of infrastructure engineers, network engineers, security architects and Mac support specialists.

What will I do day-to-day?

 

We look after DWP’s universal credit team. Universal Credit maintains an estate of around 500 Apple MacBook’s, as well as running its own authentication domain and a full suite of self-hosted productivity tools.

 

Your job will be to get the right equipment (in this case mostly Macs) to lots of colleagues in our Leeds hub, and support remote users too.

You’ll make sure the equipment works and that people understand how to use it. If they have issues, they’ll come to you to get it sorted.

You will need to able to build strong relationships and explain things so users understand. That will help you provide people with the technical support they need.

You will also resolve requests and incidents by troubleshooting and diagnosing, or collaborating within the team.

 

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills – you can build and maintain effective working relationships with team members and internal customers
  • Experience in communicating technical guidance to a non-technical audience
  • Experience in IT support of remote end users
  • Good planning, prioritisation and organisational skills, able to multi-task and prioritise
  • Experience in supporting MacBooks including the use of JAMF
  • Experience or working knowledge of incident and asset management in a Service Management framework (e.g., ITIL) supporting a wide range of Operating Systems, infrastructure and products (Mac OS, Office 365 and Windows OS, etc)
