Salary: £35,040 – £40,080 per year

Job Purpose

Undertake hydraulic planned and reactive maintenance, installation, and repairs on a wide variety of industrial and mobile hydraulic systems.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Undertake hydraulic planned and reactive maintenance, installation and repairs on a wide variety of industrial and mobile hydraulic systems.

• Role is split between field service-based working on customers site and operating on call/reactive breakdown basis and also working with the workshop as the need arises. • Fault find on hydraulic equipment and repair as required.

• Responsible for interpreting hydraulic schematics.

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and written/verbal instruction.

• Complete required paperwork and reports for each job accurately and on a timely basis.

• Maintain communication with customer to understand their requirements and provide excellent customer service.

• Following Standard Operating Procedures and taking accountability for deviations from procedure and maintaining quality control requirements.

• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and workshop area.

• To ensure the safety of yourself and taking responsibility for looking out for the safety of other team members at all times and to keep up to date with any changes in the Health and Safety culture.

• Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection and continual improvement.

Competencies Required:

• Trained and experienced in working on hydraulic equipment and systems.

• Experience in working on customers sites such as Power Stations & Petrochemical. • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic drawings & engineering drawings.

• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and targets. • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change.

• Numerate, methodical and practical skills are essential.

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Ability to work alone or as part of a team.

• Time management skills.

Qualifications/experience/knowledge required

• A recognised apprenticeship or significant relevant experience.

• Previous experience of working on hydraulic equipment.

  • Previous experience of operating manual internal, external and universal cylindrical grinding machines.
  • Experience in grinding a range of components, such as pump shafts, impellers and rotors.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to use applicable hand tools (grinders etc).

• Use of overhead cranes (training will be given)

• Responsible for final inspection ensuring all work meets the appropriate standards and quality control criteria as set out by the company.

• Always adhere to Health and Safety responsibilities including GPR 5 Annex E and follow all appropriate procedures and use the appropriate protective equipment.

• Ensure that risks and hazards in activities undertaken in the role are acknowledged and conducted in accordance with processes, procedure, and measures in place to mitigate risks.

• Be familiar with environmental aspects of activities undertaken in the role and the procedures and processes underpinning.

• Ensure that the work, including tooling and equipment, is kept clean and tidy in accordance with company initiatives such as LEAN and in accordance with health and safety requirements.

• Any other duties commensurate with your skills, knowledge, and experience.

• A strong and dedicated approach to Health & Safety and the desire to positively participate in improving of the Health & Safety culture of the organisation
