HSEQ Compliance Advisor
Job Description
The Whittan Group is the largest manufacturer of steel storage products in the United Kingdom. Operating through a number of market leading brands; we design, manufacture and install storage solutions for commercial and industrial environments in the UK and Europe.
We are looking for a HSEQ Compliance Advisor to join our busy site in Milton Keynes where they will support all operational departments across the Group with adherenece to regulatory safety, quality and environmental processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage and co-ordinate external regulatory audits and actions including DSEAR and Valpak packaging and waste compliance.
- Co-ordinate and conduct IMS compliance audits across all sites and ensure all department owners are informed and take ownership of the process and actions.
- Support operational safety and quality audits (including regulatory inspections such as fire evacuation etc) and reviews as appropriate, providing input and advice to resolve issues and drive improvements.
- Collate all audit data and findings for Monthly management reviews and action.
- Make sure the Audit programs are on track with the required support across all functions.
- Complete Audits with departments to establish action plans and agreed closure dates.
- Support risk assessments and site inspections. Identifying potential hazards and determining ways of reducing risks.
- Work with company lawyers and insurance companies for accident investigation should they arise.
- Lead insurance compliance visits across the group.
- Act as single point of contact for all external compliance bodies (for example SGS)
- Co-ordinate annual external IMS / SGS audit to maintain compliance to ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) in collaboration with other group departments.
- Ensure SGS audit plans and actions are owned and completed by department heads and their teams.
- Maintain and develop the IMS digital infrastructure (currently being developed on Smartlog) ensuring it is up to date with effective change controls in place on processes and documentation.
- Promote the need for compliance across the Group by ensuring awareness of IMS policies and procedures and making them accessible to all (including training and change / document control
- Support external supplier audits to ensure compliance to Whittan code of conduct and ISO standards.
- Support external customer IMS audits as and when required
Required skills/knowledge/qualifications:
- Nebosh level Qualified
- Working Knowledge of ISO Standards
- Experience in engineering & manufacturing processes
- Methodical & very organized
- Good in both written & oral skills to deliver reports to the business & customers.
- Ability to work on own initiative & train others.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Manage & influence others to achieve key objectives and drive improvements.
- Knowledge of Internal Auditing
- Be able to review and flow chart a process.
- Computer Literate, knowledge of SAP preferable
- 3-5 years Previous Experience
- Familiar with Environmental and Occupational Health and safety requirements.
