Hybrid working, from our office at Newcastle City Centre and from home
Permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary circa £30,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience) plus brilliant benefits including health cash plan!

Typical day as our HR Advisor
- Start your day by diving into data, uncovering insights to guide managers across the business on absence, performance, and more.
- Advise and coach managers on nipping HR concerns in the bud and steering through formal processes with empathy and effectiveness.
- Plan and deliver your next engaging upskilling session for managers, making people management a breeze for them.
- Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, identifying and tackling key challenges to make a real difference.
- Contribute to our Apprentice HR Assistant’s growth, sharing your wisdom and experience for their development.
- Embrace a proactive and energised approach, driving self-service and first-time-right solutions in HR practices.

You bring
- Solid experience of managing employee relations matters, including absence, performance, conduct, and probation (often with multiple cases on at the same time!).
- A robust foundation in employment legislation and HR processes, offering accurate advice that hits the mark every time.
- A flair for spreadsheets and data analysis, making proactive recommendations that genuinely improve practices.
- It’s important that you embrace a ‘digital first’ approach to how we work with our stakeholders and embrace in-person working with the HR team.
- You’ll support the team in making best use of data and insights to support our customers.
- A commitment to continuous learning, keeping abreast of best practice and legal changes in HR to stay ahead of the curve.
Our team
You’ll work as part of our wider People and Corporate Services team (around 60 colleagues) and, more specifically, with our HR team (there’s 12 of us). Most of our team, work from our office at One Strawberry Lane in Newcastle upon Tyne, (which is where you’ll be based) although we do have a few of the team based in London.
You’ll report into Kev, our Senior HR Business Partner, who’s based in Newcastle. Kev loves a challenge, a spreadsheet – and a Irn Bru!
Job details
- Working Monday to Friday, flexibility on working hours (we’re open to agreeing a work pattern with you)
- This is a hybrid role, so you’ll spend two days in our office at Newcastle Upon Tyne and the rest working at home.
- You’ll manage your own diary, so if you need to nip out to walk the dog or do the school run, we’re ok with that!
