Are you – a highly commercial procurement professional with proven experience within the food & drink or consumables sectors and experience of negotiating deals with blue-chip customers and suppliers, rebates, volume management etc.? Our client is exercising an ambitious growth strategy and in order to deliver this, and to expand their dominant market position; they now seek a motivated, ambitious and capable Head of Procurement to expand a competitive core range of products and to manage and develop strong and commercially advantageous relationships with existing suppliers.

The business has a strong and brand in their sector, based upon reputation for high quality variety of products and superb customer service and this has afforded them an enviable client base, including many of the UK’s biggest brands. They are an entrepreneurial, medium sized family owned business with a professional edge and are firm believers in developing, investing in and rewarding their people.

Working alongside Marketing, Logistics and Sales and using your previous FMCG experience, you will identify, develop and manage a lucrative product portfolio, building long-lasting relationships with blue chip brands. As the Head of Procurement you will be reporting to, and collaborating with, the Commercial Manager, using your originality and eye for detail to identify new categories and sales opportunities.

Using your advanced communication, purchasing skills and personality, you will develop the supply base, and be proactive in leading change and continuous improvement.

Key skills and attributes of Head of Procurement:
• Experience trading in the FMCG market and wholesale trade
• Ability to increase business performance through all aspects of customer/supplier relationships
• Accomplished networker within food, beverages and alcohol sectors

Desirable skills of Head of Procurement:
• Experience of operating within BRC or a BS Quality Management System
• Experience of using EPOS/WMS
