Salary: £100,000 to £120,000 plus car / car allowance, 33 days holiday, pension, bonus, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits scheme

About the Role

Relationships mean everything to us, and this one is particularly special. You’ll have an important part to play in automotive success that spans nearly 50 years. Unipart Logistics (UL) has secured a contract to run the new, custom-built Jaguar Land Rover Global Parts Logistics Centre at Appleby Magna in Leicestershire. The operation will be housed at Jaguar Land Rover’s new Mercia campus, one of the largest UK warehouse developments for a single customer.

As our Head of Operations you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising all aspects of our logistics processes. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of goods to our customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

  • Lead and manage the operations team to achieve excellence in safety, quality, cost, and delivery
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimise logistics processes
  • Collaborate with the wider Mercia Park team to streamline operations and enhance overall supply chain efficiency
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the client and key suppliers
  • Monitor and analyse KPIs / data to identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within outbound operations
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to support continued improvement
  • Share knowledge and learning of best practice within UL and the wider business

About You

We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!

  • Experience of leading Inbound and Outbound operations for a large 3PL or in-house function in a high-volume / fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of the latest warehousing and distribution best practices and emerging concepts and solutions from across the logistics industry
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring people – excellent leadership skills
  • Experience of working in an operation with a high degree of change
  • Track record of influencing internal people and at all levels to drive change
  • Excellent communication skills – spoken, written, and presenting
  • Appetite to learn more about Industry 4.0 technologies and apply digital solutions to applicable operational areas and processes
