Head of Digital Marketing – SEM
Our client is a leading B2B information provider in the technology sector whose aim is to inspire the global technology community to build a better world by informing, educating and connecting them through world-class research, training, events, and media.
Role Purpose:
The Head of Digital Marketing – SEM will lead the paid media team within an agency-like central Digital Marketing team.
This highly strategic and analytical individual will enhance and optimise SEM processes and feed into high-level three-year planning undertaken by the Digital Marketing Director. They will head-up the expansion of the SEM team in the UK, scaling and allocating headcount to meet internal SEM expertise demand.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading and managing a team who create strategies and campaigns which drives year-on-year growth in: Brand awareness, Quality leads, Audience growth, Event/training, attendees/revenue and Event and research client sales
* Quality assessing direct reports’ campaigns, tracking and weekly reports
* Optimising and enhancing central SEM processes, as the team scales
* Leading on best practice sharing sessions across the SEM team
* Effectively tracking and managing SEM budgets across the function
* Proactively identifying optimisation and new tactics to dramatically increase conversion and ROI of SEM spend
* Implementing consistent benchmarks of CPAs and CPLs across certain personas/audience types and industries
* Vetting and managing external digital marketing agencies across strategically outsourced digital marketing campaigns, defining objectives, KPIs and budgets
* Creating monthly SEM trackers, rolling-up performance and results across all of the team’s campaigns, providing commentary and insights
Skills & Qualifications:
* Highly strategic – SEM strategy creation
* Strong people manager and trainer
* In-depth experience in SEM campaign tracking and reporting, including benchmarking of CPLs and CPAs
* In-depth experience in analysing audience data, traffic analytics and channel performance, and recommending improvements
* Proven experience in maximising the ROI of team SEM spend
* Experience in training and embedding SEM best practice within a team
* Highly analytical – ability to drill into campaigns to assess performance and effectiveness
* Highly innovative – staying up-to-date with latest SEM tools, platforms and important algorithm changes
* In-depth knowledge of Google Analytics, GTM and related tracking technologies
* In-depth knowledge of SEM tools, such as SEMRush
* Excellent communicator with a keen eye for detail
* Strong stakeholder management skills
* Knowledge of Salesforce for client conversion reporting a bonus
* Knowledge of Eloqua a bonus
