What Will I Be Doing as a Groundsperson? 

As a Groundsperson, you will be carrying out a full range of gardening & horticultural tasks, which mainly include mowing, strimming, weeding, and ensuring the area is presentable for our clients.

Other duties will include: 

  • Take care of the grounds, keeping them maintained and presentable.
  • Make sure graves are dug appropriately for the deceased and maintain graves as needed for the friends and family of the deceased.
  • Clear the grounds, paths, and roadways of litter.
  • Ensure creativity but sensitivity with the design, construction of memorial gardens and where appropriate, utilisation of space
  • Operating cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines (Full Training will be provided for this).
  • Dealing with visitors’ enquiries.
  • Carry out any other duties when reasonably requested to do so by your Line Manager.

What Do I Need?

  • Horticultural/ gardening/grounds keeping experience is advantageous
  • Experience in operating mechanical gardening equipment is advantageous, although training can be provided for this
  • Physically able to hand dig as well as using machinery.
  • Is comfortable with manual handling tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential
  • Good communication skills
  • Hard-working and willing to apply yourself
  • Comfortable working in a team or carrying out tasks by yourself
