Job Description

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, the Banqueting House, Kew Palace, and Hillsborough Castle & Gardens.

Departments: Governance, Audit & Risk
Home Palace: Hampton Court Palace 1-2 days per week / homeworking
Status: Established/Permanent
Salary: £33,971 Per Annum
Days/Hours of work: Full time, 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

We are a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. We create space for spirits to stir and be stirred.

HRP’s new Governance Executive will work at the heart of the organisation with the Company Secretary to provide a secretariat and administrative support for HRP’s Trustee Board, its four sub-committees and the Chief Executive and Executive Team.

As well as developing and maintaining schedules of key governance meetings, producing high quality packs of papers, and drafting minutes of meetings, you will also play a key role in coordinating a number of organisation wide governance projects including a refresh of HRP’s policy framework and a review of its external legal provision.

In addition, you will provide support to the Company Secretary in their role as Data Protection Officer and make sure statutory governance records and registers are kept up to date.

About you

The ideal candidate would be working towards a governance or related qualification and already have experience in a governance role supporting charity boards and senior teams.

You will need to be competent in taking minutes, and delivering work to tight deadlines, liaising with senior colleagues.

Excellent IT skills and a flexible approach will also be a requirement.
