Geotechnical Engineer / Geology

My client provide geotechnical and environmental consultancy and site investigation services.
Technical recommendations covered as part of their Geotechnical Consultancy include recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, groundwater, drainage, road pavement design, excavations and mining.
An important part of most developments includes identifying contamination aspects correctly and establishing the most cost-effective remediation strategy. Environmental Consultancy services may be integrated with, or separate from, any of the above.

They are looking for someone with a MSc in Engineering Geology, or similar, with some geotechnical design skills and knowledge of providing economical and practical solutions to geotechnical engineering problems that might be encountered in any particular project.

The largest amount of unforeseen costs of a project often come from the ground. Good geotechnics is ultimately about delivering costs savings. By providing detailed accurate geotechnical recommendations the amount of unforeseen costs relating to the ground may be mitigated.

You will have had experience of –

In-situ plate bearing testing
Ground improvement techniques
Parameters for retaining wall design
Basement construction advice
Information for piled foundation design
Slope stability analysis and design
Mineworkings hazard assessment
Natural resource location evaluation
Waste materials assessment and recycling
Subsidence investigation and assessment
Piling platform/ crane tower stability assessments
Slurry lagoon/ pit testing, investigation and design
Engineering geomorphological surveys
Infrastructure alignment route appraisals
Soakaway feasibility in accordance with BRE 365
Surface water and foul drainage solutions
Hydrological studies
Geothermal heating advice
