Who are they looking for?

They have a rare opportunity for a Fleet and Facilities Manager to join their friendly team in theirHead Office in Tytherington, Macclesfield. The role is suitable for office or ‘hybrid working’ with time spent working from home in addition to attending the office. The initial 3-months will be office-based, and fleet focused to enable you to settle into your new role with additional support. Once you have grasped the fleet role the role will further develop to include facilities management.

Excellent fleet management skills are a must! They currently have 70 permanently leased vehicles (and growing), and at any one time they may have up to 180 spot-hires (small and medium sized vehicles only – no HGVs). This is an opportunity to showcase your skills developed in a fleet-management or strategic vehicle rental role. Key skills for the role include:

  • Skills and knowledge relating to small and medium sized vehicle fleet management.
  • Strong understanding of fleet market and current trends, challenges, opportunities, tax implications etc.
  • First class personal, written, and verbal skills extending into influencing and negotiating.
  • Ability to negotiate complex vehicle supply and leasing contracts.
  • Demonstrable experience of liaising with insurers, insurance brokers, accident management companies etc.
  • Experience of accident management investigations and reporting.
  • The ability to make effective decisions in a fastpaced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and HSWA.
  • The ability to robustly question and challenge both internally and externally.
  • Tenacity, determination and attention to detail.
  • Excellent MS office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

What does my new role look like?

Working closely with the Finance Director and Operations teams, you will have the autonomy to further enhance their strategic and operational approach to Fleet and Facilities. You will do this by:

  • Managing Supplier Performance: working closely with key stakeholders to ensure all vehicles needs are met. Building and manage supplier relationships, including KPIs and SLAs. Forecasting ongoing demand for vehicle requirements and owning the strategy for fleet insurance and relationship with insurance broker.
  • Commercial and Financial Control: Appropriately manage the procurement of company vehicles (subject to board approval) – considering costs to both the individual and the Company. Full cost control – challenging unreasonable charges, authorising monthly invoices, ownership of the Company’s Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme. Continuously looking for costsavings, full management of the vehicle damage and accident damage process.
  • Ownership of processes/procedures: ownership and continuous review of company’s Fleet Policy with reference to HSWA, Road Traffic Act and Highway Code. Reduce road risk by monitoring driver behaviour (via telematics), driving licences, full compliance with MID reporting. Collation and reporting of a wide range of metrics including CO2 emissions, hire days, fuel, insurance claims and damage.
  • Communication & Teamworking: Liaise and develop clear communications with all third party suppliers, insurers and brokers. Line management of Fleet Administrator, develop and maintain a positive relationship with all colleagues. Liaise with Resourcing and People Teams to ensure all feedback is provided and acted on promptly as required.
  • Health and Safety: Comply with all H&S standards as set out within relevant documents. Work closely with the H&S Manager to ensure safe and effective working practices.
