Fitter / Test Technician

Our Client has invested heavily into the development of Waste Heat Recovery technology setting up an Advanced Engineering group.
This is now the most significant technology investment in the company. This team are well underway developing fluid control equipment for several leading truck manufacturers, utilising Ethanol in a liquid/steam cycle.
The Commercial Vehicle group is the largest sector, supplying most of the truck and off highway OEMs around the world. To date the team has attracted interest from numerous customers, filed several patents and is implementing a state of the art Rankine cycle Ethanol test cell.
Heat Recovery allows diesel engines to achieve thermal efficiency above 50% and operators to make fuel savings of 5%. Our Client is a prestigious, high tech environment dedicated to transportation technology development.

THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES:

We are currently looking to recruit a Fitter/Test Technician to be based at MIRA. Reporting into the Team Leader your key duties and responsibilities will be:-
To assemble and test prototypes
To build and run test rigs, including fixtures for engine cells
Perform simple machining activity as required
Good prototype workshop skills and a proven track record and experience of functional testing in a development environment
Some experience of TIG welding would be beneficial, training is available
Electrical knowledge is also useful
High standard of workmanship is essential

The ideal candidate will have reasonable pc skills and excellent verbal and written ability for communication of test results. Professionalism, integrity and teamwork are essential. Valve test rig experience would be beneficial and a solid grasp of fundamental engineering principles.
