Our client are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer.
The business currently fabricates and installs railway structures and has undertaken some of the industry high profile signalling and OLE projects.

Assist and support with the day to day running of fabrication contracts for an industry leader in railway infrastructure. As Project Engineer you will be reporting directly to the Fabrication Project Manager and you will be working closely with other engineers and production manager in our Northern Office. Your role is to ensure that the correct information, specification, drawings etc are given to the production/workshop managers to ensure all the client requirements are met. You will be required to liaise with other engineers, production and QA managers to ensure all works are planned, manufactured and delivered on time and within budget. You will liaise with the client or site teams and sub-contractors to ensure that delivery dates are understood and liaised back to the production team.
Project Engineer you will be required to perform the following duties.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff and suppliers
• To have a good knowledge of Structural Steel, from materials to fabrication processes.
• Assist/support Project Managers engaging with client representatives to ensure all information requirements have been issued.
• You will liaise with Production directors, project engineers, production managers and the QA team to ensure the final product is correct to both drawings and standards.
• Ensure Works Instructions including all relevant information is issued to the works to allow completion of the project. Including (but not limited to) drawings, cutting lists, nesting sketches.
• To maintain up to date information on project trackers, create and issue delivery notes and at times organise transport if required.
• Make the Project Manager aware if any TQ’s / RFI’s are required and at times draft copies for review before submission.
• You will attend internal ‘Technical Review’ meetings tohelp ensure compliance with latest specifications are being met.
• Coordinate and ensure all material is procured on time and within budget and is coordinated with the works manager.
• You will prepare detailed technical specifications for sub-contracted works.
• You will be expected to enter into technical discussions with potential suppliers to obtain the best possible technical solution.
• A small amount of travel is required for this position both in the Northwest and UK.
• You will be required to have a good knowledge of the latest BS standards and demonstrate a good understanding of the latest CE marking requirements. Training in these areas can be provided if required. Ensure ISO 9001 and CE marking and BS EN 1090 are adhered to.
• You will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of corrosion protection systems, mainly galvanising and painting.
• A good knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required and ideally MS word and MS project too. If required training will be given.
• You will be required to learn some internal pieces of software (profiling software, nesting software, labelling software) and confidently operate to ensure correct information is issued into fabrication.
Key Relationships Internal
• Project Manager – to support and manage performance to achieve output and profit objectives, meeting product delivery requirements. Be able to communicate and present potential improvements. Help set targets and budgets, monitor, and liaise with Production team.
• Quality Manager – to ensure the smooth running of the company’s quality procedures and systems and to maintain encourage and develop the company ethos of producing high quality products.
• Production Manager – to ensure detailed information is flowing and feeding back best practice for production methods. Liaise targets and budgets, monitor and report back to Production Director
• Administration – to cross check orders, invoices, delivery notes for goods received
External
• Suppliers – Liaise with, to ensure delivery of raw materials and other associated components/consumables to meet production needs.
• Client – Establish project requirements during the project, specifications, Raise TQ’s, and project delivery dates.
